What does this mean?

This is a 20th century, original drawing in red conte crayon on paper by the listed American artist Robert Riggs (1896 - 1970). It is a fairly large size and the figure depicted is a Thai woman performing a traditional dance in costume that is native to Thailand. Though unsigned, there is clear provenance to authorship and the drawing is one of a pair with the second or 'other' being signed and dedicated. Drawings in this medium have a lower sale value than finished paintings in watercolor or oil, and his most sought after subject matter are his images of boxers. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.

I am quite familiar with the artist Robert Riggs having handled a fair amount of his original works when I was with Illustration House in NYC. You do mention that this is an etching and then state it is a drawing. Etchings are done in multiples, drawings are one-of-a-kind and each would have a different value depending on the medium. Can you discern the medium? Also what is the size?

Thank you for your questions and apologies for my lack of clarity. This is a drawing, in a rust color ... pastel maybe. Could be pencil but I would guess pastel. The exposed drawing dimension is 28"by20". The frame is 40"by31". I had it framed at a museum quality because I did not want the image to fade or touch the glass. Let me know if you have additional questions and thank you.
