This is believed to be a possible Persian tray, bought at an estate sale with no real information although the owner was a world traveler and had many estates when he passed. We were told the inscription on front is in the Urdu language and was told it was an Iranian piece. It appears to be made of a heavy tin or tin type metal dipped or covered with copper. It is 15 1/2 inches diameter.

Such tables can be found all over the Middle East and also North Africa where once the ottoman empire ruled. The image most likely portrays an ancient assyrian or persian emperor at his court. Such occasional tables are quite common and are a favourite travel souvenir. The estimate is based on similar sold at auction.
