Japanese wood block prints from the mid 1950's
My dad bought these in Japan in Tokyo area. They are about 12" x 24". Interestingly my dad had these stored until about 10-15 years ago when they finally put them up in their house. My dad is 86 and still kicking and can give more info if needed. :-) Thanks, Pete Wendt
Bought in Tokyo, in the area around Asaka Tokya (not Osaka, but Asaka, its a city within Tokyo). I'm not sure if thats where he bought them but that is where he was stationed.

Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with MeArto. Based on the images you provided, the items appear to be color woodblocks by Koyo Omura (大村黄陽, 1891 - 1983). The titles include Pagoda in Kiyomizu, Pagoda in Toji, Pagoda in Gojunoto, and Pagoda in Nara. The first edition of these woodblocks were produced in 1953 and published by Kyoto Hang-In. The images depict temples throughout Kyoto during the four seasons. The inscription seen in one of the images provided reads, "Koyo." The seal in the middle reads, "Ko." Both inscriptions refer to the artist. The last red seal refers to the publisher, Kyoto Hang-In. One might find a red seal in the margin of the prints, obscured by the frames.
Koyo woodblocks are often seen at auction. However, it is rare that a full series of seasons are seen in one group. The estimate provided is for the series as a group and based on recent auction estimates and results of these prints.
