Japanese silk screen painting--Pre-1925--purchased in Japan
In 1925 my aunt and her husband were in Japan where he worked for General Motors. They bought this silk screen painting at that time. It has been in the family since then, most recently in the possession of my 95 year old cousin, Pierce Stevens, of Asheville, NC. He gave it to my last fall, but I could not get it in my car. My sister brought it to me last week. It is 66" tall and 24" wide. It is quite heavy as it is on a board. I I have taken photos which I can forward to you for a better description.

The japanese kakemono in your possession was most likely painted in the 1920s, therefore shortly before it was purchased by your relatives. The title 龍舟 dragon boat might refer to a popular novel of that era. The upper seal most likely reads 浦 參. Unfortunately no artist with that name is listed in auction results.The estimate is based on similar paintings by lesser known artists offered or sold at auction. "Asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
