What does this mean?

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be Japanese folding screen (byōbu, 屏風). The item appears to depict a traditional style landscape and dates to the early-mid 20th century. The screen does present some conditions such as accretions and general discolorations, possibly some paint loss. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of other comparable byōbu screens with similar depicting and dimensions. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
