What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs provided, the item is a 2007 James Madison D Presidential $1.00 Coin with an aftermarket plating applied to alter the color and finish from its original state. Under magnification this coin appears to have been plated after being distributed by the US Mint as the coin shows significantly fewer features in relief than normal specimens. The plating is particularly noticeable around all lettering, the coin's edge, and Madison's facial features. While some aftermarket companies plate minted coins with gold, silver, or platinum in part or in total and sell these coins for significant markup, these items are not particularly sought after or valued in an auction setting or among numismatists. Unfortunately, the Fair Market Value of the item is estimated between $1 and $5.
