It is a painting on New Orleans roof slate. Medium ..... Gouache it has a small piece of slate glued onto the back. It also has a typed letter describing it that says. This painting is done on New Orleans roof slate. This slate came over from Europe as bellast on sailing ships and used as building material once the ships reached the port of New Orleans. Slate has been as building material for the last three hundred years in the city, tho the slate itself is millions of years old. The slate itself is millions of years old. The slate itself is too expensive to replace and most property owners are replacing the neutral slate with man made shingles , witch is a nice thing from my point of view, I get all the old slateto paint. The paper glued on the back goes on to describe the slate. I use Gousche medium from Australia. It has the name .....BABS.... at the end of her note on the back of the painting
I found it on property I once lived at over twenty-five years ago and have been having it ever since
