It's an old ass chair. Both the seat bottom and back are upholstered, but could use a reupholstering. The wood is stained in varying degrees to denote shading. The wood is conjoined by dowel pins. There are detailed flowers and pedals in the carvings. Under the seat is a fine burlap fabric held up by iron tacks. There are no makers stampings or marks. There are no screws or any indication of post War construction. The casters are round wood.
If it's been in our family as long as our other furniture, it could be pre 1850s.
