Rare, 1920'3-1930'a etched slate table top in very good condition! This folky nautical drawing of the Grand Banks Fisherman looks like a blueprint. It is all hand-carved on a heavy piece or slab of slate with a polished top. The condition is very good with minor scratches or chips on the edges consistent from age and use. The "Grand Banks Fisherman,” which refers to a region southeast of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Sebastian Junger's novel The Perfect Storm, and in Rudyard Kipling's novel Captains Courageous both are about fisherman working in this coastal area. This is quite a unusual piece. CREATOR Isiah L.
