What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

You have a squat ovoid-form Hopi Native American pottery vessel, loosely in the form of a turtle. The turtle is a sacred figure and frequently represented in Hopi artistry. Certain Hopi Kachina dolls and pottery by Nampeyo, are particularly valuable. Your example, while lovely, is by an artist that is not extremely sought after and thus, of modest value. My estimate is for fair market value. Retailers might charge a buyer significantly more.

Please let me know if you have additional questions. I'm happy to help.

Can you estimate the date for the piece?

Corey Sep 19, 00:02 UTC

I'm hesitant to give it a date without looking at it firsthand, but I would venture a guess at mid-20th century.
