Print, without frame, is 6 x 11.5 inches and appears to be in good condition. "F. Lefter pinx" on left and "L. Angerer photogravure Berlin" on right. He was well-known as a court photographer. The item is not centered because I had a glare problem. The nice old frame has a chip on top right corner.
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be photogravure after a painting by Franz Lefler (Austrian; 1831 - 1898). Lefler studied at the Academies of Fine Arts in Vienna and Prague and often depicted children in allegorical or historical scenes. The object was printed and published by Ludwig Angerer (Austrian; 1827 - 1879). A photogravure is a reproduction print process made from a combination of photography and intaglio processes.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable photogravures after works by Franz Lefler. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
