What does this mean?

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. The knife blade has the shape of a bowie knife, the handle ist made from cast aluminum, the quality of execution is that of an amateur folk art artist. Star and Eagle would point to the USA at a point in history when there was a larger supply of excess Aluminum. Which would narrow the search to your neighborhood, the prisoner of war camp in West Helena in 1946. This might have been a present of a german or italian prisoner of war to his former captors. For further reading:Faust, Kate. “Remembrances of the Prisoner of War Camp in West Helena, Arkansas.” Phillips County Historical Quarterly 16 (September 1978): 31–39.
The estimate is based on similar items sold at auction, but with the local history attached to the knife it might be higher.
I hope the information provided was helpful to you.

Wow I was not expecting to get that much in depth information! I never dreamed it would actually have any history behind it. Thank you so much!
