Dear Darren,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The presented object appears to be a modern reproduction of a Chinese Jian sword. This piece was made out of bronze or copper and is a reproduction made in the second half of the 20th century of a Jian sword during the Warring State period in China.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 80 to 150 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
Georg

Thanks for the info! Curious as to what is the telltale that identifies it as a modern reproduction? Thanks again.

Dear Darren,

You are very welcome. The surface is so uneven and there are bubbles that come trough a not professional cast. Also, the fact that the surface is not corroded is a hint that this is a modern reproduction.

With kind regards,
Georg
