Don’t know much about it. Got it out of a warehouse crate. It is not resin.
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. I apologize for the slight delay in your appraisal and thank you for your patience.
The item presented appears to be carved Japanese okimono (置物) or decorative object. The object appears to be ivory. I am unable to identify the ivory type. Viewing the cross section of the object would be the only way to identify it. I apologize. The seal appears to read "South China" (南华). Therefore this item may have been produced for trade or export. It does seem finely carved and decorated.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of comparable Asian ivory carvings in similar size. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
