Asian deity netsuke

Description

The item is about an inch and a half tall as well as wide, im not entirely sure what its made of but the last one was assumed to be ivory.

Provenance

They come from my great grandmother, i dont know much about their orgins

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a piece of cast and patinated resin in the form of a japanese Netsuke ( open air bubbles from the cast visible) . Such reproductions flooded the market in the 1960s and the supply never really ceased. Especially since the African elephant is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 such "netsukes" filled the demand. Unfortunately this piece of cast resin has a decorative value only. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item.
