Antique Sterling tea/coffee service
Description

Exceptional Tea/Coffee Set by FENTON BROTHERS LTD of SHEFFIELD. Sterling Silver 925. NOT PLATE. Though famed for its manufacturing of its highest quality silver plate, its RARE solid Sterling Silver is sought by collectors. The company was founded in Sheffield in 1875 and incorporated soon after. This set consists of a superbly designed teapot with a wood handle and finial top. There too are a creamer and sugar bowl. All three are sleekly designed, decidedly looking forward to Art Deco, yet there are still references to Art Nouveau, the silver handles of the sugar bowl being a good example of this. Each piece is on a rectangular silver plinth, which makes them far steadier than many other designs. The marks indicate that the assay's office for registration of the pieces was in the town of Sheffield. As noted above, The maker's mark is a "F.Bs over Ltd into a shield.
