Antique Italian Woman Oil Painting
Notes from my parents before they passed: Northern European style of the late 16th or 17th century. Stretches are only about 50 years old (that assessment was made in 1968). Back of painting has markings: MDLXII CHA Liergina Peroni Octum Ferchiati Vxor Baronium XVII Painting in ornate gold frame. Canvas dimensions 15x18 and frame 20x24
Owned by my parents. Purchased from an antiques dealer in Darien, Ct back in the 1960's for a few thousand dollars.

The apprised object appears to be painting in oil on canvas with the measurements of 18 x 15 inches. The artwork depicts the portrait of a woman in a representative court dress of the early 17th century. This painting was once bigger and a part is cut out. On the reverse side, we find the dating in roman umbers 1620 (MDLXII) and a title that is sadly not solvable. The woman has some similarities with Marie de' Medici in the features of the face and the color of the eyes. Sadly this is not mentioned on the mysterious inscription on the reverse side.
This piece is in good condition.
An estimation would be between 2.000 to 4.000 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
