What does this mean?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The decoration on this vase is characteristic of porcelain made in the late 19th and early 20th Century; it is a fake date mark.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A Sevres style hand-painted and parcel gilt porcelain covered urn
Made in France, spurious date mark 1771
Of ovoid form, the sloping shouldered cover with gilt flame finial, lushly decorated with floral decoration on a blue ground, brass waist, downcurving foot on a square brass base with chamfered corners.
16 1/2 inches tall
CONDITION: ill-fitting cover (lid); client represents this to be in excellent pre-owned condition
PROVENANCE: previously owned by a hoarder.
$80-120*
