16X20 drawing of my Great Uncle Bernard in his WW2 uniform Signed by KH Dallinger dated 1946 looks like brown pencil on paper.

It was passed down to my grandmother from Bernard when he passed grandma left it to my mother and she left it to me. As far as I know it's never been seen by anyone outside of the family.

What does this mean?

Dear Jean,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The presented object appears to be a drawing in red chalk on paper with the measurements of 20 x 16 inches. The drawing is a portrait of a soldier of the US Army who belongs to the family of the owner. The drawing was probably made by the artist Karl Heinrich DALLINGER (1907-1997).
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
