This is an antique, early 20th century, Victor brand, GEM model, table top hand-crank Victrola with original horn. The horn was hand painted, in the tole ware style, at some time with pink roses. This Victor Gem does not have a visible metal tag with the model style and serial number. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.

"The Victor Talking Machine Company did an excellent job of providing model identification, along with a unique serial number for most models, which makes dating their phonographs a relatively easy task in most cases.
Every Victor phonograph has a metal dataplate affixed either on or near the motorboard (for machines with lids), on the side of the phonograph (for most external horn and lidless models), or under the turntable (for low-priced and some portable models of the 20's). The turntable must be lifted straight up and off the motorboard to view some plates. Every dataplate contains both a model identification (stamped on the left) and a serial number (on the right). Every model has an individual serialization."
I cannot lift the turntable without fear of damage. I read online that early phonographs didn't have metal plate! am sending more photos. Thank you for your assist. d
These usually have a metal tag affixed to it with a Model number on it - can you find the tag with that information on this?
