Early 1900’s cubist paper collage...looks like material and newsprint used in Picasso’s “Guitar” paper collage. (Moma nyc). Paper cutouts and French newsprint from Paris pasted onto blue Arches paper with chalk or pastel drawing in piece. Sides and back show age deterioration and a repair on back. Piece is signed Picasso in pencil on upper right hand corner.
I purchased the piece 12 years ago from a well know musician who purchased it from a London auction house. I don’t have any other information on it.
Dear Constance,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a mixed-media collage with unknown measurements. The collage shows an abstract composition and appears to be signed by the famous artist Pablo Picasso. This artwork differs fundamentally in the style of the depiction, the composition of the motif, the quality of the artwork itself and the signature to ensured works of Pablo Picasso.
This piece is in medium condition and there are no serious damages visible.
These arguments classify this artwork as a forgery.
With kind regards,
Georg
I am requesting a refund for this appraisal. Please confirm.
